Abstract
Global trade is marked by geographical barriers known as straits, which are particularly notable for their dual function of both separating and connecting. The conflict between Israel and the United States on one side and Iran on the other reveals the strategic and tactical choices imposed on the belligerents by the straits. This article posits the hypothesis that Tehran controls many of the essential elements of the strategic management of the Strait of Hormuz.
