Résumé: Pour évaluer le rôle des BRICS sur la scène internationale, tant dans sa situation actuelle que dans ses perspectives d’avenir, il est indispensable de se référer à des éléments conceptuels corrects et pertinents. Trop souvent, dans le discours dominant, particulièrement répandu suite à la récente transformation des BRICS en BRICS Plus avec l’adhésion de nouveaux États membres, les analystes et commentateurs s’appuient sur des connaissances inappropriées, superficielles, déformantes, voire erronées. L’auteur propose une action corrective à cet égard, qui devrait impliquer en priorité la communauté scientifique, afin de définir des cadres conceptuels permettant une compréhension partagée de la portée et des implications des transformations structurelles majeures en cours à l’échelle mondiale. Cette étape est considérée comme essentielle pour une lecture et une interprétation correctes du rôle des BRICS Plus dans la réforme des principales institutions internationales, telles que l’ONU, et donc de l’ordre multilatéral mondial. À cet égard, l’auteur rappelle et illustre à la fois les engagements officiellement pris par les BRICS dans les déclarations finales de leurs sommets, ainsi que l’importance des plateformes communes approuvées à l’ONU et sur lesquelles les BRICS œuvrent de manière constructive.

Abstract: Assessing the role of BRICS in the international scenario, both in its current situation and its potential future prospects, requires reference to correct and adequate conceptual elements. Too often, in the prevailing narrative, particularly widespread following the recent transformation of BRICS into BRICS Plus through the accession of new member states, analysts and commentators rely on inappropriate, superficial, distorting, and sometimes erroneous knowledge. The author proposes a corrective approach in this regard, which should primarily involve the scientific community, with the aim of defining conceptual frameworks that allow for a shared understanding of the scope and implications of the major structural transformations currently underway at the global level. This step is considered essential for a correct reading and interpretation of the role of BRICS Plus in the reform of key international institutions, such as the United Nations, and therefore of the global multilateral order. In this respect, the author recalls and illustrates both the commitments officially undertaken by BRICS in the final declarations of their summits, as well as the importance of the common platforms approved at the UN and on which the BRICS operate in a constructive manner.
