Executive Summary: For a long time Latin America, rich in natural agricultural and mining resources, has aroused the lusts of foreign powers. Today, the degradation of the international geopolitical environment generates a situation of poly-crisis in which food crisis, demographic surge, and conflicts of all kinds converge. On the other hand, the war in Ukraine, the shortage of energy resources, and the recent volatility of markets with the search for greater diversification of supply, only reinforce the phenomenon of insecurity and geo-economic dependence. Venezuela reflects all the contradictions, paradoxes, but also the potentials and promises of sovereignty of the entire South American continent, and what is new is that this continent is at a moment of radical transformation and of the shift of the contemporary world order, which from a geo-economic order based on oil to a post-oil fossil order. On the other hand, Latin America is sadly famous for its record levels of disparities, socio-economic inequalities, including and first of all in terms of access to land. One per cent of landowners control fifty-one per cent of agricultural land. The race for the development of soy crops and livestock farming are today among the main factors contributing to the worsening of this situation. Together with Africa, the continent is home to the world’s last large “reserves” of arable land, generating increasing lusts. Indeed, the continent has experienced the interference of external powers such as the United States over the course of history, which has prevented sustainable economic development and the potential exploitation of these territories.
